Sheet metal fabrication, Papakura

The whole job stays in one building.

Laser, folding, welding and finishing all happen here. Nobody else has to fit you in, so we can tell you a date and mean it.

About the shop

Twelve people in one building since 2011.

Ardmore started with a guillotine, a folder and two people, doing flashings for roofers out of half a unit. There are twelve of us now and we have the whole building, which is the part that matters.

Almost every fabrication job in Auckland gets split up. The laser is at one shop, the folding at another, the welding somewhere else, and the powder coater is a fourth. Every handover is a queue and a chance for the part to come back wrong.

Here the sheet goes on the laser, comes off, goes to the press, goes to a welding bay and gets linished, and it is the same job number and the same person answering the phone the whole way through.

We work mostly for builders, commercial kitchen companies and architects. About a third of what we do is repeat work for the same customers.

What people say

  1. They quote off our drawings without ringing back with twenty questions, which tells you they have read them.

    Nikau Fitouts Commercial kitchen contractor

  2. The screen panels arrived within half a millimetre of the model and every one was labelled to the setting-out drawing.

    Bree S. Project architect

  3. Forty-eight frames, all identical, all galvanised, one delivery. That is the whole job for us.

    Halton Mechanical HVAC installer
